About Ripple (XRP)

A privately held fin-tech company, Ripple offers global payment solutions through its own network - Ripple Network. Ripple Network is also known as RippleNet. This network is built on top of Ripple's consensus ledger, called XRP Ledger (or XRPL).

XRP is the native token of XRPL Ledger. The digital coin was introduced in 2021 as an alternative to other digital assets, with a focus on energy efficiency and speed.

Founders of Ripple

In 2021, David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto founded XRP and the XRP Ledger. They aimed to create an alternat to the to Bitcoin blockchain with more focus on energy efficiency and speed.

In September 2021, these personalities established a company, known as Ripple. The company aims to build use cases around XRP

Use Cases of Ripple

XRP can be used for various purposes, such as micropayments, usual payment transactions, DeFi, and soon, NFTs. In fact, developers can utilize XRP Ledger to create solutions regarding remittances and asset tokenization.

There are five current use cases of XRP Ledger - DeFi, tonization, stablecoins, etc.
